EV charging
The install is the easy part. Whether your panel can carry another 32 to 48 amps continuously is the question, and a load calculation answers it before you spend anything.
The real question
A level 2 charger draws 32 to 48 amps for hours at a time. Code treats a continuous load differently from a kettle, so the circuit is sized above the draw rather than to it.
Where the panel has capacity, this is a straightforward job. Where it does not, there are two answers rather than one. A panel upgrade buys headroom for everything, not just the car. Load management shares an existing circuit and costs a fraction, which is often the better answer if the car is the only new load you are adding.
We quote both where both apply, and the rebate and permit position is set out at the same time rather than left for you to chase.
How it runs
Before any price. This is what decides between a straight install, load management, and a service upgrade.
Where the car parks, where the panel is, and how the cable runs. Exterior runs are weatherproofed properly rather than sealed with tape.
The circuit is dedicated, sized for a continuous load, and the permit is filed before work starts.
