Work in an occupied building is a scheduling problem as much as an electrical one. What matters is not shutting anything down that has to keep running, and being able to prove afterwards that it was done properly.
Occupied buildings
In a shop, an office or a kitchen the electrical work itself is rarely the hard part. Deciding what can lose power, when, and for how long is.
That usually means out-of-hours work for anything that interrupts trading, and it means labelling as you go so the next person is not guessing. Retail electrical and restaurant electrical work cover the two most common versions, and kitchens bring their own requirements around water and equipment loads.
Fit-outs are the other regular job, and they run to a landlord specification as much as to yours. Tenant fit out sets out how the scope gets agreed between the two, which is worth settling before the work rather than during it.
How it runs
What has to keep running, what can be isolated, and when. This is the part that decides the schedule.
Written, with the isolation set out. Out-of-hours where trading cannot be interrupted.
Labelled as we go rather than at the end, so the next person is not tracing circuits from scratch.
Inspection booked by us, and the record goes to whoever will be asked for it later.
Managed residential
For a managed portfolio the repair is half the job. The other half is a record that shows what was found, what was done, and that it was inspected, because that is what gets produced if anyone ever asks.
We work to that standard by default. Property management electrical covers how recurring work is handled across multiple units, and maintenance plans set out what a scheduled check actually includes rather than leaving it vague.
Where a unit has an older service that keeps generating call-outs, replacing it once is usually cheaper than attending it repeatedly, and a panel upgrade priced against a year of call-out invoices often makes that obvious.
What we do here
Common questions
Planned the isolation first. We never lost the tills during trading.
Records arrive in a form we can hand straight to an owner. Rare.
Understood the equipment loads and the landlord spec without being walked through either.
Did the detection and the panel between tenancies rather than making us arrange access twice.

Tell us what has to keep running and when. We plan the isolation before quoting, not on the day.
