Aluminum wiring replacement: the connections fail, not the cable
Aluminum expands and contracts more than copper as it heats and cools. At a screw terminal that movement slowly loosens the connection, and a loose connection under load produces heat.
It is also why the symptoms are specific. A warm faceplate, a receptacle that has discoloured, or a scorch mark at a terminal are the ones to act on. If that is what you are seeing, treat it as a hot outlet rather than something to schedule for next month.
Because the cable itself is sound, pulling it out is rarely necessary. Correcting every connection is what removes the risk, and that is a different and much smaller job than whole home rewiring. Where a device has already failed, outlet and switch repair deals with that one while the rest is scheduled.

Pigtailing joins a short copper tail to the existing aluminum with a connector rated for the pairing, and the device then lands on copper.
Replacement is the right answer in two situations: where the aluminum has already overheated at multiple points, and where the house is being rewired anyway for another reason such as knob and tube replacement.
The count is what decides the price, so we count before quoting rather than estimating from the floor plan. If the panel is also old, a panel and breaker inspection at the same visit will tell you whether that needs attention too, and an electrical panel upgrade is cheaper done alongside than on its own.

Most accept correctly pigtailed aluminum, but not all. Ask yours for their requirement in writing first, because a few want full replacement and pigtailing then buys you nothing.
